CERN Leave Year
The annual leave year starts on the 1st October until the 30th September every year.
In order to avoid losing any leave days, kindly please note the following:
- No more than 30 days of Annual Leave can be carried forward from this year onto the next. All unused Annual Leave above the 30 day limit (pro rata for people on part-time contracts) will be lost as of the 1st October (beginning of the new leave year).
- If the leave balance is in negative, it will be compensated by HR using days from another type of leave balance if available (e.g., SLS, Compensation, Annual), or deducted from the next year’s leave credit.
- Unused days of Short Term Saved Leave above 22 (pro rata for people on part-time contracts) will be transferred into the Long Term Saved Leave balance as of the 1st October. Should you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the BE.central.secretariat@cern.ch.
